I called and spoke with someone there. They said it came from the pacific? I am kind of confused about that one. How reliable would you say they are capt?

I can not wait till I upgrade my tank. I miss having an octo.

Yeah I forgot to mention that. He is convinced that they come form the pacific, he has little octopus knowledge so he believes his supplier. I tired to explain to him over and over that its a Caribbean species but he does not believe me.

I asked the ebay guy why he considered them a mated pair and he responded,

I have never seen a definition quite so absurd but in today's world I suppose anything goes so perhaps it is appropriate for the times.

I have tried to get an answer from Mike and Oceanproaquatics in the past about where they are getting their 'captive bred' cuttles from, and if they are indeed captive bred, what species are they selling. The pics of cuttles on the website seem to be generic, so without knowing what species they are it will be hard for people to prepare. I have also told them that I am not interested in going around them to get the animals cheaper, but that I am involved in the science behind these animals and if there is someone out there breeding them on a commercial level I would be very interested in talking to them - breeder to breeder. Feel free to contact me via PM if that works better for you.

He claims i is selling Octopus Bimacs from the eastern pacific that require a water temp of 72-78 and he is selling them for $100, normally $140. \

Expensive and Ignorant are not traits I look for in a good octopus source.

Call him he is a really good guy!!! I know the Bimacs is a little high priced but a lot of the time shipping is free and he will work with you when you buy a few things at once. I am not sure what kind of Cuttles i have but they are doing great.

I spoke to mike and he said that teh prices are high because simply they aren't available this time of season and when they come in on a regular basis our prices drop to around $25 each so you can pay higher now or lower if you can wait if that's the animal for you.

Also someone else was saying something about the bimacs coming from "eastern pacific". I don't know what he is talking about but the one mike has are bred right at his location or farms and they are also wild all along the Southern California to Baja Coast line (mostly along the San Diego, CA area for wild ones) but we breed them. That addresses another question a few were talking about. It sounded as if they were blasting someone on ebay that nobody could have a "mated pair". Although octos aren't really mated pairs but rather opertunistic breeders, you can have a pair that will breed successfully for you in the tank. Mike do it on a regular basis and he also has videos on it if you want me to forward them to you which include closeups of the baby octo's swimming all around in a frenzy!
