what do you have and how much do you have in your ceph set up

Don't get this for an overflow, its junk. If you want a hang-on-back overflow, go with a Amiracle or any other brand that uses a u-tube with a round cross-section.

If you're using an overflow, I assume you're going to run a sump, but you don't seem to list any sump components (the sump itself and the return pump). Also, when you listed the octopus you neglected the FedEx overnight shipping on it, which is going to be $50-75. But in reality, that $75 will be dwarfed by other cost overruns

Good luck,

Dan

So what exactly is the difference between an overflow box and a sump? what exactly makes something a sump besides a small plumbed tank under the show aquarium for filtration and skimming?

sorry for the dumb question, im trying to work out a budget myself.

That's precisely what a sump is.

The overflow is simply the means to get the water into it from the main tank. This may seem facile, but they are specifically designed to overflow water out of the tank so that the rate of water leaving the tank is always balanced to what the pump is moving into the tank from the sump.

-A Vecton 25 UV unit
-A Power Head
-A Heater
-V2 Protein Skimmer
-Sump Light
-Main Tank Light
-Ocean Runner 3500 Pump
-Approx 30kgs Fully Matured Live Rock
-Live Sand as a Base
-Twin Air Pump
-Sump (with a bio and mechanical filter)
-Cabinet
-Salt Measurer
-Two Nets
-Feeding Prong
-Seaweed and clips
-Testing kit
-Transport Boxes for livestock and fish

-1 Powder Brown Tang
-2 Clown fish
-3 Green Chromis
-1 Blue Damsel
-1 Goby
-1 Pistol shrimp
-1 Boxing shrimp
-1 Spiney sea Urchin
-1 Starfish

It was as if it was too good to be true it so naturally I went to have a look to check if the equipment was in good condition. I did check and the equipment, decor and livestock were in brilliant condition. I am so lucky! I am planning to sell the livestock that isn't compatible with the octopus which is most of it I believe!

What kind of octopus is in your tank?.....I Was told you need a 50 gallon minimu to house just bimacs....and those are pretty small. Do you think i could get by on a 30 gallon tank?.....Also how do you house your fiddler crabs?

60g drilled marineland cube tank $500
custom canopy to match stand $150
60 pounds sand $60
80 pounds tonga branching live rock $60 (from a friend)
marineland LED Aquarium Light $30
plumbing (bulkheads, loc-line, pipe etc...) $35

Plumbed in to existing system $FREE

Total $800

Let's see;
$500 - 40G Breeder + XP3 Canister + Stand + CoralLife T5HO Light
$40 - Aqueon Powerhead (500 GPH I think)
$420 - Live Rock 60lbs @ $7/lb

$45 - Offbrand Return Pump
$40 - 425GPH Korrila Nano Power Head
$300 - Misc. Supplies (test kits, additives, pods etc.)
------------------
$2130.00 - Total
But then this is not a 100% octotank, just a "50-50", and I'm sure I'm missing more (like $500 in food and water). I will be plumbing a 65 and 30 tall in soon and the 40B will be for octos while the 30 tall will be for future cuttlefish.

$800 RSM 130 & Stand (used display unit)
$130 Innovative Marine Medium size skimmer (working wonderful sofar but the bracket to hang it is useless)

$45 Media Basket from Mediabaskets.com (wish they made one that Icould use a filter sock in the sump)
