merc pulling apart a crab

so im still trying to get my merc to eat or atleast show that he is eating, i threw a couple of shrimp in and they have disappeared now, however i am not sure if they were eaten or not. Yesterday i threw in a sally lightfoot crab and today i find that somewhere between 1-5 pm he has torn it apart, but it doesnt look like he ate it. any thoughts?

There's usually very little evidence left after eating a shrimp, but much more after eating a crab. Are you sure he didn't just suck the goodies out and leave the carapace? Also, it may have been too big and he only consumed part of it.
