It would be better to use Octopets.com as they sell captive bred Octopus bimaculoides and can tell you exactly how old they are. This also saves catching wild octopuses and using a sustainable resource.

The tank raised bimacs are 3-3 1/2 months old. I don't think you can get an octo much younger than that - they are really quite small.
