Best time of year to get an octo?

My lfs has this tiny prickly looking one that only came in as octopus where as dwarves are usually labeled pacific brown which is why I don’t bother with those! I see prickly and hope for abdopus lol… my camera wouldn’t let me video with the flash on :weary: So I could only get these pics… it was hiding between the two pipes when I walked up so someone moved one for me so I could try to id him. He’s $70 whereas “pacific browns” are usually $40ish

What’s the best time of year to get one? I thought around like spring… but I guess it depends on the species
