Hi All,
The United States along with Fiji, Palau, and India are formally proposing that Family Nautilidae be listed under the CITES Convention and adopted in Appendix II. This is a huge step in Nautilus Conservation. This would significantly increase the reporting of nautilus importing and require importers to show that their imports are not impacting nautilus populations. It's not anywhere close to being a done deal and it's not the "last step" either. It is a huge crucial step to ensuring nautilus survival into the future so that the potential of fisheries might still exist. Fishermen lose too, when nautiluses become extinct.
