Giant Squid Attack in 1707?

I just came across this image titled “Erik Garner Warren, circa 1707, Meets the Giant Squid for the first time”

This is the first I’ve heard of it -is this from a novel or fictional account, or is based on some real or supposedly real incident.

I've never seen that particular image before either, nor heard of any account that might have gone along with it, and I've been reading about giant squid for almost thirty years now. (Frightening thought, that.) It does have a similar look to some of the illistrations from Victor Hugo's work, and others of his era, but it could just as easily be faked. My guess is some obscure piece of fiction, recent or otherwise, although I could always be wrong.
