Its beak is being pulled out way beyond the base of its arms. I didn't know the mouth could extend that far out. Is that damage or is that natural?

a little of both I think; unfortunately it is hooked and being pulled -- so it doesn't "naturually" extend that way (although who knows, sightings are very limited) -- but the beak does seem to still be secured there along with the buccal mass.
