Squid Sighting

Here's an email I received this morning and thought I'd share here...

Maybe this will be of some use for you guys but I sighted a VERY large, and quite possibly "giant" squid on May 2nd in washington state! The squid just came out of nowhere. My best estimate was that it was 3-7 feet in length and very huge in girth. It made quite a ruckus near the shore than escaped into the deep water. Hope this helps.

What do you think of this sighting? It sure made my week at work.

Moroteuthis robusta is also known from the Pacific Northwest. Not sure about their depth range, but I'd love to see one!
