Dr. William Gilly, who I worked with at last year's USA Science and Engineering Festival, has asked me to round up some DC locals and anyone else who wants to to help out with Squids4Kids.

Essentially, he will be bringing several Humboldt Squid to dissect for the public.

Last year we had a handful of people at the booth and it was still a lot of work getting everything done; if I can get a few people to come help out, that would be great.

PM me if you would like to help :biggrin2:

EDIT: Dr. Danna Staaf, a recent graduate of Dr. Gilly's lab who is coordinating much of this, told me to tell you "If you would like to apply, please send your name and a few sentences about your background and experience in science and cephalopods to [email protected] ".

Thanks so much for posting this, Katharine! If anyone would like to know a little more about the Squids4Kids program, the website is here:

You certainly don't need to be a scientist to help out--we just need folks who love squid! I'm thinking we might even get some sweet, squiddy t-shirts this year . . .
