Is there a difference in preference of an octopus fossil in 3D form or slate form. I don't seem to find any in 3D form online
Octopuses rarely leave behind any traces over the millennia due to their fully soft-bodied nature. I've only seen remnants in slate form.
After extreme magnification, I can see septa of a fossil coral, like a Petoskey stone. So I'll eat some of my words, You Do Have a Fossil, just not an octopus.I'm afraid that what you have is just a rounded piece of quartzite that happens to look like an octopus (I just can't see it). Quartzite is just metamorphosed sandstone.
It's OK @Architeuthoceras, and here I thought it was a potato... but I wouldn't want to eat it!So I'll eat some of my words
