I put this in culture impact because I think it very clearly shows that today's children know more than their parents about the ocean and maybe animals in general. I suspect much of this absorbed knowledge is because of shows like Animal Planet and grandparents' hobbies

As an extra, I ran across a National Geographic website that starts with several segments on Octopuses and then some excellent footage on jellies and other sea critters. You have to put up with commercials between each segment but the footage is very good:
