I was just about to mention how much dumbo looks like the vampire squid from underneath and then I saw your comment

Oops, I guess this is not Dumbo (Grimpoteuthis) but is it a squid or an octopus. I know it has fins but it appears that the mantle is attached to the webbing and tentacles are not visible.

From what I can tell, the cirrates are octopuses. That being said, I was a bit confused as to the "teuthis" ending. I would have thought that cirroctopus would have been a better genus name. If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it.

I'm gonna pop this here, even though I'm not entirely certain which cirrate this is.

I don't think so. As far as I know, Grimpoteuthis do not have the long cirri (tendrils) between the suckers. This is most likely either Cirroteuthis or Stauroteuthis... but I'm not sure which one. The latter is found in the Atlantic, and I believe that this was filmed in the Pacific?

this one i'm 75% sure is cirroteuthis? great observation from schmidt, nearly 10 minutes' worth.
