Cephalopod Videos

Atlas Obscura put @Tintenfisch in the movies (again).
Where can you get up close and personal with a colossal squid, a sea monster from the deep? You might want to pay a visit to Te Papa, New Zealand’s national museum, which contains the world’s only preserved complete colossal squid specimen. This squid was discovered in the Antarctic, and is the heaviest invertebrate in the world, with lengths up to 20 feet and weighing up to a thousand pounds. Now that’s a creature you don’t want to mess with.

The amazing brains and morphing skin of octopuses and other cephalopods | Roger Hanlon

Octopus, squid and cuttlefish -- collectively known as cephalopods -- have strange, massive, distributed brains. What do they do with all that neural power? Dive into the ocean with marine biologist Roger Hanlon, who shares astonishing footage of the camouflaging abilities of cephalopods, which can change their skin color and texture in a flash. Learn how their smart skin, and their ability to deploy it in sophisticated ways, could be evidence of an alternative form of intelligence -- and how it could lead to breakthroughs in AI, fabrics, cosmetics and beyond. "The 10 Coolest Cephalopods—Period" Richard Ross, Academy researcher Rich Ross is a researcher in the Academy's Albright Lab who specializes in cephalopods and coral spawning—a role he moved into after years spent managing our 212,200-gallon Philippines Coral Reef exhibit as an Academy biologist. A winner of the MASNA Aquarist of the Year Award (now the MASNA Award), author of scientific papers on everything from the coconut octopus to the lesser (and larger) Pacific striped octopus to the glorious Wonderpus, he's eminently qualified to deliver the verdict on Earth's top-ten coolest cephalopods ... period.

I thought I was going to die': Father bitten by blue-ringed octopus at Marks Point

Aaron Hodgson was bitten by a blue-ringed octopus while digging for shells at Marks Point.

He tells radio producer Ty King about the strange symptoms he experienced and the frantic rush to John Hunter Hospital.

Then Drive presenter Paul Turton asks marine ecologist Vincent Raoult to explain how deadly blue-ringed octopuses can be, and how common they are in Lake Macquarie.

Real Science did a nice job of providing information about, "The Insane Biology of: The Octopus". The last min or so is an ad for Curiosity Stream with no additional octo info. The author also provides a nice list of linked references for her discussion
