Many of my GPO video clips are from observations in the Nanoose area of Canada’s Vancouver Island. This because I can access this high value GPO habitat during shore dives (no boat needed) only a 20 minute drive from home.
At Madrona, the walls have many potential octopus dens, close to a productive food supply. Dungeness crab are a favourite food for local GPOs.
Of interest is that juvenile yelloweye rockfishes often share dens with octopus at Madrona. They seem to be tolerated by the octopus, as are the occasional tiger and copper rockfish.
