This is the terrifying moment an aggressive octopus latches onto a snorkeller and nearly strangles him after its home was disturbed.

A diver has had a near-death encounter with an octopus that decided to fight back after being poked with a stick.

Wow, that was something to see. I'm sure I don't have to express which one I was cheering for, but I'm really surprised about the octopus's size. I read the article before watching the video and was assuming it was a much larger octopus. Hell, that one isn't much larger than the one in my tank so I better be nice to her! :)

I wonder how the strength of an octopus compares to that of primates. I had a monkey once and I know they are incredibly strong for their size.

Guess he won't be poking things with a stick any more.

OMG I saw this on Reddit a few days ago...so bizarre. Even Redditors were cheering on the Octopus! Scary for the diver, but so completely preventable...it's not that hard, just don't disturb wild animals! Imagine if someone came into your home, poked you with a stick, grabbed you, and dragged you out of your bedroom...you'd fight back too! I hope the diver learned their lesson and doesn't try a stunt like that again!
