Grand Architect of the (Benthic) Universe

Nov 20, 2002
I don't really know if any Nautiluses are Freemasons, but according to tonight's episode of "The Most Extreme Animals" on ANIMAL PLANET they are the #4 top builder in the animal kingdom!

The "Most Extreme Builders" episode featured some absolutely beautiful footage of divers swimming among the enigmatic creatures, which hovered lazily in that characteristically hypnotic rocking motion. These CNs looked unusually huge -- almost as big as the divers' heads. The segment also featured a scientist (whose name I forget) explaining how CNs constructed their homes, which in engineering terms were the closest things to submarines in the natural world. (Hence Verne's name for the submarine in 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA.)

Another ANIMAL PLANET feature worth seeing!
