Abdopus aculeatus female deimatic display

As this female approaches laying, she seems to be more aggressive and several times when I have touched her with the feeding stick, she flared up into a dramatic display curling her arms and extending the web. The dorsal surface is directed at the offending stick. This would appear to be a display exaggerating her size. I'm not a fan of the term "deimatic display" - covers too much territory, but since Hanlon has figured simimar displays and classified them as "deimatic", I'll use it here. Mucktopus reports seeing similar displays be A. aculeatus in the field when they were pecked by trigger fish. Sorry I missed the flull display. It is hard tickling the animal with the stick in one hand and taking the image with the other.
