Selenoteuthis scintillans is the single species of this genus. Like other members of its family, it has photophores on its eyes, mantle and tentalces.

Info at:
Selenoteuthis scintillans

Ps. These guys are awesome, they need common names... ideas?

Well according to this website, histioteuthis is already named the jeweled squid.

May I suggest the bedazzled squid? Between Eltons glasses in the 70's (I like the idea Tony) and the bedazzling fad (what was that, the 80's) this is definitely looking like a squid from another era.
