Hello all!

I'll be giving a talk soon and I'd like to see how the community here usually pronounces certain scientific names? I tried looking up on Latin videos to learn more about it but only came out more confused:laughing:

Would be great to 'hear' if you guys pronounce these names differently or not:
vulgaris - vuhl-GAH-ris
bimaculoides - BEE-mah-coo-LOY-dees
papillae - PAH-pee-lee (I was taught that ae in latin has the ee sound?)
wunderpus - WOON-duh-puhs or WAN-duh-pus?
Hapalochlaena - HA-puh-lo-klee-na

:tentacle:

Hi Qiaz,

Here's how I understand their pronunciation to be:
I pronounce Vulgaris the same way
Bimaculoides: BYE-mac-you-LOI-dees
Papillae: PAH-pill-lay but I've heard people say PAH-pill-ee as well
Wunderpus: WON-dur-puss

no idea on the last one!

Nice that's really useful! Other sources have different 'rules' so I wonder which one is the right one!

Heh heh thanks! That makes sense to pronounce bi as 'bye'! I keep thinking 'i' is pronounced as 'ee'

*ahem*... "bloo reeng" :heee:
Hahahah :roflmao:
