Yes they can. If a new maze is introduced they'll feel their way along it....and learn it too. They seem to have a reasonable spatial memory. It all makes sense when you consider that many octopus's normal environment is a rocky reef........a maze made of rocks!!

Yea, Jean's right. In the Ultimate Guide Octopus...it's also revealed that Octo's seem to memorize how to get back home after traveling an intricate way around the seafloors and distance...they can memorize were they are and were to go. It's pretty fascinating. There also very good at learning by phsyical observation.
