While getting top off water at a LFS today I noticed an octopus inside a critter keeper. Upon closer inspection I saw that she had a pretty decent sized clutch of eggs. According to the staff they had received her about a week ago as a wild caught off the coast of Florida and had laid the eggs very recently. Based on her size and location of origin I want to say she's an O. Mercatoris. They let me have the eggs and I went home immediately to set up a system in which to try my first attempt at hatching octopus eggs.
