New octopus need help with I.D

When you say "frozen" do you mean they are kept on ice? If so, yes, these are live and you do need to acclimate them. My normal procedure is buy half a dozen and place them in a bucket of tank water overnight (changing the water at least once to keep enough oxygen). This helps to eliminate some of the transportation water and crud they acquire. Then just leave them in the tank where you can see them and remove any that die. I have had some live over a year. They work as a minor tank clean up crew in the tank and don't pollute anywhere nearly as badly as other mollusks when they die.
