[Octopus]: Loc - Callistoctopus aspilosomatis - The Ceph Stork!

Oh gosh... Can I Buy this Octo? ... really?

My hope and patience is about to be put through the gamut.

Yep, red/brown, splotchy, and teal/green patches... I guess it was a shimmer... but it definitely looked like a patch. Weak coloring at the moment, walking from car to house it was much darker.

oi oi oi...

AND after all this time btw, LFS said the glass shrimp are inexpensive and live a bit in salt water too. Are they good for food, at least for a young octo like this one? Poor thing is all messed up.

Should I keep it in the carrier? Lid off. Built it a home in there? If it gets out, it gets out into the main tank?

No... ugh... I know... I know...
just being greedy... Misty truly spoiled us, lol.

It has teeny hermits, going to get glass shrimp tomorrow too, instead of fiddlers. I cannot believe they're so inexpensive. Not as inexpensive as frozen... but I doubt we'll be able to find the little bugger once it picks a den.

Its now 1:15am and I've seen it stick arms out from under that shell a few times. No major outings like in the video.

And in true octopus form... at 1:22am it makes a total liar out of me.

Definitely out from under that shell, sitting on the back side, eyeing me up.

No sudden movements, and the light is out. Only octo owners would see what I see right now, esp in a photo... if I moved.

Great.

Has 3 of the back legs, missing a good bit of the front and side 5.

Doing laps in the tank now. Feeling around a bit on the sand, staying low for now. Seems to favor the side with Octo Rock, left side of the tank. Exploring the shells and space ship, not really the barnacles. I quickly read through a few threads, and they like the refuse, shells, low parts. It's a lean-to sort of ceph.

2:23am

Pics from when it initially made me into a liar... into lights on during filming... to back off to see the legs on glass.

Glass shrimp are in, 20 of them. I'm hoping it hunts.
We don't know where it lives, but might be in Octo Rock. We have to get long feeder sticks to test spots with frozen shrimp bits.

Names so far
Loc- little octopus that could
Nibbles
Little bugger
Quint or Quinn

Anyone recover an octopus this limb-less?

Recovery will be a factor of age and health. Older animals regenerate more slowly. The actual damage is not really a concern in safe environment with easy food.

Came out around 11pm!

Opposite side of where I thought it would hide out. Maybe it's hunting. Idk. I caught an eye bobbing and knew rocks don't bob, and my head spun!

Took a piece of shrimp from a stick after a few minutes of leaving it close enough and still. It is nearly 1am and is still munching and staying in that one spot.

... even with a few cam flashes.
I had to! What if it's not an O. Bocki? Eh? Lol

4 more.
I tried for video. But it wouldn't move until I sat back away. We'll see if it explores after eating... still munching and bobbing same set as previous post.

Home at 9pm, watching the tank here and there until sitting down now. 10:30pm no signs. Nothing upon waking up today either.
Ok, there, updated ya'll for our evening routine...

<waits to be turned into an octo-liar once more>
