I was my LFS (where I just applied for a job) and they had an octopus for their first time. I'm pretty sure that its a merc, but I'm not sure.

Congrats on the new job. I hope you enjoy it. You shouldn't feel so bad about the octopus. The fact that it has a new den that it likes is a good thing.

WHOO HOOO!!!! You will have to care for the little guy now and try to befriend it on your breaks Congratulations. Its a lot of manual labor if you are going to be the one who gets to clean but you will certainly learn something about keeping aquariums and some of the good and bad things about the industry.
