I always like it when the public is invited to report what they see in the way of natural events and it appears that Monterey Bay Aquarium research Institute is experimenting with this concept for locating jellyfish strandings. There is a short article about the project in this month's Practical Fish Keeping and here is the MBARI site. If you click on the icon that identifies what is sited and then again on the icon or photo thumbnail in the displayed balloon, the post and google terrain map will be displayed along with any photos submitted.
