It seems our resident "experts" are wrong

What's wrong with it? I think it is a fine picture and well worth bidding for.
 
Hmm. Palm trees in the background, old image, 6.5 tons.

I wonder if this isn't a model of Florida's "St. Augustine Monstser." The shape is about right, compared to the old photos of the thing. The "original" washed back out to sea. Perhaps this photo depicts a monument to one of cryptozoology's most hallowed creatures, "Octopus giganteus."

Hey, one of my favorite anime films "My Neighbor Totoro" has a Neko-basu (a "Catbus"), a cat shaped like a bus. :lol:
