I wonder if this isn't a model of Florida's "St. Augustine Monstser." The shape is about right, compared to the old photos of the thing. The "original" washed back out to sea. Perhaps this photo depicts a monument to one of cryptozoology's most hallowed creatures, "Octopus giganteus."

This is the second Cephalopods A World Guide I've seen this seller selling for this inflated price. I can see out of print books but that is nearly twice the price for a new copy on Amazon!
