Hello all,
just wondering if anyone has ever documented "cleaning" or " taking out the trash " behavior in cephs. Most books i've read describe octos as messy. But my Bimac ,Pulpito, always brings the empty shell of the crawfish i feed him to the corner of the tank, climbs halfway up and spits it upward. Maybe he's taking on the characteristics of the owner (i'm a neat freak too..)

David

BTW Pulpito is spanish for little octopus.. :heee:

Hi David,

When people describe octos as messy, they mean the food isn't wholly consumed. Octos like clean dens and put remnants and shells outside their den, or frequently far away from it. My bimac went so far as to hand me pieces of food she wasn't in the mood to eat. So little Pulpito is just being a normal, tidy octopus!
