Hello Cephalopod lovers,

It has been years since I posted, but I teach marine science at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in South Alabama in the USA, and I have a question that came up during a student squid dissection. Are the attached pictures showing both Nidamental glands and testes in the same squid? I have dissected 1000s with students as have my colleagues and this is the first time one of us has seen this. I knew this was the place to ask! Thanks for your help!

Sincerely,
Greg

Do you have a close up of the "testes", I doubt that it's an hermaphrodite (but you never know!) certainly the nidamental glands are prominent, as the the oviduct. But I'd love to see a close up!

The closest up view I have is the second one posted and this one which is nearly the same.
Thanks for your help!
