Do you guys see any harm in using an in-tank heater for a vulgaris octopus?

I am worried he will sit on the heater too long and burn himself.

But I have read they are very smart animals.

So i tend to believe hed feel the warmth and leave the heater.

any comments?

It's unusual to put an in-tank heater in with an octopus - heaters are placed in the sump.
A vulgaris is smart but also very curious - I'd be worried that he might knock the heater about and break it if it's glass. And somewhere I read that octopuses can't detect heat - some of our marine biologists will have to weigh in on these questions.
