Anyone notice something isn’t adding up here? I just got this guy 2 days ago and it appears he may be a Hexapus. Anyone seen this befor. I have only ever been able to count 6 legs in any of my videos of him this picture was from right as I was releasing him into my tank. I don’t want to try and catch him and stress him out but could it be possible he just has 6 legs?

Haha I was too quick to say he was a true Hexapus. Upon closer examination with a much better view I can clearly see he is in fact missing two limbs. My apologies I was extremely reluctant for a while and did say couldn’t say for sure without taking him out for inspection but I did start to believe it for sure.
Hey y’all. So I just got this octopus a couple days ago and realized it’s rather rare. Looking at the latest research scientists say octopus have six arms and two legs and it appears my octopus is almost proof of that as it’s missing it’s legs. Tell me what you think. If it does have only 6 arms I’d say it’s the only one in the world. Two have popped up in the past the most recent was killed to be eaten befor they realized it only had 6 arms and the first one in 2008 in England I think.

Nope it’s even spaced differently from what I can tell. There are clearly only 6 that come in and meet at the beak. Their are none missing he is a legit Hexapus from what I can tell. I’m really surprised at how few of comments there are for such a rare find. I was hoping to get lots of feedback.

I suspected this may have been the case but have learned not to be too adamant about what we "typically" see. Hopefully you will continue to journal your new ward and photograph the growth. We don't have well documented timing for full arm regrowth so documenting the time would be a great addition.

With your permission, I would like to move this to our journals forum
