This squid is commonly known as the piglet squid and (honestly) I don't know how I didn't create a thread for this guy earlier. These squid are a riot!
Piglet squid are the smallest of the cranchiids, reaching a maximum size of about 10 cm mantle length. They have an incredibly distinctive appearance as their fins are proportionally very small and their funnel is proportionally very large. There has been quite a bit of systematic confusion regarding the genus, and we are still not certain how many species exist globally. (It has been suggested that up to 14 species may occur.
