all right so per jesse kelly and agreement from mike v. and fernando, this is definitely a (very badly-damaged) ancistrocheirus.

per jesse, the tentacle club morphology aligns with that genus much more so than a cycloteuthid, and the characteristic photophores are briefly visible on the mantle here and here

schmidt ocean just encountered one at around 125m off peru and spent about five minutes with it, close-up. incredible footage!!
