Hi all, new to the forum but not to the hobby. Been researching octopus and their care for 2 years or so. I currently have 3 main systems. One of them which is about 1200 gallons total volume between 720 display, 350 sump and about another 140 gallons in the shed. The shed brings me to the point of my question. We have a labyrinth of pvc going from the system and the sumps to my shed. Currently I. The shed I have a 40 gallon frag tank and a 100-120 gallon horse trough we converted into a coral garden with a remote DSB for additional nutrient control. My plan is to add a 200 gallon trough and 3 frag tanks of different sizes. We are planning to make a 75 gallon octopus tank plumbed directly into the existing system. Questions I have are depth of the frag tank I should have for a bimac. how tall will I need it be as I would like to add sand to its tank. Another question I had was pertaining to the top. I know that we can use a polyurethane clear sheet with something to weigh them down but would a mesh cover work or the openings would be too large for a smaller bimac not escape through. Maybe they can tear the mesh? Outside of that open to any tips you experienced keepers may have. Thanks in advance or TIA for the younger folks

Hi, you really have a nice system. Height of a tank is an interesting question. I know you don’t want a frag tank to be deep but I wouldn’t go lower than 16-18 inches. As far as a top I use the same mesh u would repair a screen window with. Just needs to be secured well. Hope this helps. Tom

It sure does. It would be made of the same material as a frag tank I can make it deeper. I can go up to 24 if it’s better
