Hapalochlaena lunulata female landing

Given the contrasting bright colors and variable skin texture, it is often difficult to see the eyes of Hapalochlaena lunulata unless you know what to look for. There is always a single horizontal blue running through the eye.
I've seen Bimacs and other species do these "eye bars" as well. It must be an effective way to hide the true location of the eye, rather than just turning it into another eye spot. Interesting!

Good thought @pkilian as I have seen them on others as well, just did not put them in the same thoughts with animals that show rings all over their body.
