The female is living in a cavity formed by a razor clam in sand stone. O. chierchiae can be found living in a variety of cavities and shells. Typically a brooding female sits in the entrance which she blocks using pebbles and shell fragments. This female has laid about 40 eggs over a two month period and at 25 degrees the eggs take 5-6 weeks to hatch. I took this photo of her developing eggs when the female left the cavity to catch a crab.
